Anna Maria College

The Bachelor of Arts in Human Development and Human Services provides students with a broad based and interdisciplinary education focused on the preparation of individuals who seek a career in a wide variety of professional settings in education, human services, social services, and related fields.  The major is specifically designed to encourage students to self-design their major field of study while also completing a core set of courses in the liberal arts and in the interdisciplinary field of Human Development and Human Services. Students enrolled in this program have the options of Early Education and Care (EEC) Certification preparation or Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (ESE) initial licensure preparation.*

* Students must also apply to the Teacher Preparation Program of the College and complete the requirement for Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Initial License.

The Master of Education program provides students, who have completed a Bachelor degree, the opportunity to explore teacher preparartion (licensure or non-licensure) in:

  • Early Childhood; Teacher of Students with and without Disabilities (PreK-2)
  • Elementary (1-6)
  • Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities (PreK-8; 5-12)

Highlights:

Students enrolled as Human Development and Human Services majors select an area of concentration based on their interest. Concentrations include: Early Childhood (ages 3-8), Administrative, and Advocacy. Each of these concentrations includes a field placement and the option for an internship.
